Kit Karbler
Born in Sandusky, OH on September 8th 1954. I earned my BFA from Ohio University and furthered my studies at UCLA. Today I am the sole proprietor, designer and artist of Blake Street Glass Studio. I reside in Denver, Colorado with my life partner of many years, Dmitri Rudenko and our wonderful dog Macy.
The Team
A trained team of young artisans in the hot and cold shop are at hand to assist me in the enormous task of implementing my artwork to fruition. With the help and skills provided by these people, I am able to produce the unique and labor intensive, beautifully handcrafted glass sculptures sought after by collectors worldwide.
• Dmitri Rudenko is an amazingly talented and accomplished glass cutter and polisher as well as a skilled assistant in the hot shop. He has been with Blake Street Glass Studio since 1999.
• Miguel Guzmán has been a member of the Studio team for twenty eight years and administers the business.
• Nicholas Hawthorne is skilled in the hot and cold shop, assisting with blowing, cutting and polishing. Nick is a graduate from Franklin Pierce University (BFA ’09) and has been with Blake Street Glass Studio since late 2009.
• Travis Givens is skilled in the hot shop and assists Kit with the blowing of artwork.
• Zachary Yuskanich is skilled in the hot and cold shop, assisting with blowing, cutting and polishing. Zach, a graduate from Southern Illinois University (BFA ’06), has studied in Murano and is interested in sculpting with hot glass.

The Work
At first it's soft, simple and beautiful — like making candy. But when you are working with 40 pounds of glass at 2,000 degrees it's like wrestling an alligator. You have to conquer it before turning it into a vessel.
The Theme
The primary purpose of my work is not to hold objects but to hold your imagination and light.
The Belief
We believe in the importance of giving back to our community and help out whenever we can. It might not always be possible to contribute cash to a non-profit organization but we take great pride in donating our artwork to those that are committed to help the not-so-fortunate.
